Drop your secrets below.‘The more people working with this plant, the more we are going to be able to do with it.’ Jason Matthys, founder, Equilibrium GeneticsĪs winter’s end nears and spring approaches, it’s time to get cracking on seed and clone plans for 2020. The final result makes for a great melting, transparent gram of hash that is packed with so much delicious flavor. Our favorites are the water hash, followed closely by the Persy Rosin. While this cultivar is very resinous and a proliferate flower producer, we choose to take her for hash and rosin. This production pheno averages 2.4 lbs of biomass per light with a consistent 4% hash yield which is best when pressed into rosin. We prune this pheno slightly higher than the others for large thick top colas. Pheno #18 meanwhile is a more short to medium height plant, and more apical dominant in flower production, meaning the buds grow more towards the top. In the wash, she averages a 4.3% yield, going up to just under 5% for plants grown in Living Soil. She averages 1.9lbs of biomass per light, stacking decently dense flowers up the stalk. In the grow room, pheno #5 is a plant with medium height and slightly less than average (2x) stretch in flower with a decent amount of foliage and short internodes. When grown in Living Soil, we also find that it adds a mouth watering sugary pixie sticks-like candy flavor into the mix. We’ve grown this cultivar three times in production now and we can’t help but love the sweet melons, cantaloupe, and strawberry tastes and smells that come out of our pheno #5. In the end, our team narrowed it down to three phenos (#5, #18, and #9) with pheno #9 being kept after feedback from the public that it was a top choice for taste. This was our Oakland facility’s first public pheno pack that we released last year. We hunted the phenos for this cultivar in-house and after a few pheno hunts that didn’t make us completely enthralled, it truly began to turn the corner for us pheno-wise and quickly made itself known as the most exciting new genetics from the crew that brought us most of our zkittlez crosses. Gak, however, is a real mystery genetics-wise as there is not much information known about its origins, but it is rumored to have been found by and kept by with both parties using it in their recent works. 4Locoz is a male progeny from genetic stock that includes the famed Hindu Zkittlez and Eddy Lep OG. Shoutout to Dying Breed Seeds who bred this cross of Gak (mom) x 4Locoz (dad). It’s time for another installment of our Cultivar Specific series and this week we’re shining a light on recent classic and genetic mystery Gak Smoovie.
